Spot samples are taken in different ways depending on the method of storing and moving seeds:
- Spot sampling from cars. Point samples from cars are taken with a sampler or manually with a probe.
- Selection of spot samples from a batch of seeds stored in bulk in warehouses and sites (excluding warehouses with sloping floors). Spot samples from a batch of seeds stored in warehouses and sites with an embankment height of up to 1.5 m are taken with a probe, and with a higher embankment height - with a probe with screw-on rods.
- Selection of spot samples during loading (unloading) of seeds. Spot samples when loading (unloading) seeds into cars, ships, warehouses, elevator silos are taken from the stream of transported seeds in places where they drop with a sampler or a special bucket by crossing the stream at regular intervals during the entire period of movement of the batch. The frequency of taking spot samples is set depending on the speed of movement and the mass of the batch in accordance with the requirements specified in clause 1.7. When unloading grain cars, spot samples are taken from under each unloading bin.
- Selection of spot samples of seeds stored in elevator silos and warehouses with inclined floors. Spot samples of seeds stored in elevator silos and warehouses with inclined floors are taken during the process of releasing seeds from the silo or warehouse section in accordance with the requirements of clause 2.2.3. Selection of spot samples during loading (unloading) of seeds.
- Taking spot samples from bags. Bags are selected from different places in the batch in the quantities indicated in the table in clause 1.8. From the selected sewn bags, point samples are taken with a bag probe from one corner.
